Destructo Jackson

I just got back from a nice lunch out, intending on getting little cleaning done before I have to pick up Jackson in an hour.

I thought that maybe I'd start with magic-erasering off the crayon on my nightstand...

or the crayon on my wall which goes well with the nice red marker on the curtain, don't ya think?

or maybe the big red X "that means don't come in Mommy!" on Jackson's door.

There are the things I have hope for, but have not had much luck with so far, such as the permanent marker on Jackson's vinyl window,

or the lovely, and permanent, mural on his wall (which you can see I tried to paint over but the color didn't match - it's a work on progress!)

Finally there are the things that I know are lost causes, like my wicker side table that apparently needed some venting at the top,

or Jackson's antique headboard that he scratched up one night :(

Sometimes I just can't keep up! Are all boys like this? I'm just hoping that one day, even if it's many years from now, I will be able to have just a few nice things in my house. Until then I'm off to clean the wall, door, and nightstand. Let me know if you have tips for the rest!

Seems like you and I play the same game! (so It's not only boys) My hardest was sharpie on the floor. Still hasn't come off really - but the oxy clean I used to tackle the job.... REALLY cleaned the floor (read: left the carpet lighter with the slight hint of orange marker still there)! The best I've found though is magic eraser. Good luck!

do you ever use oxiclean, the powder kind? Buy some of that if you don't have it, mix a large cup of oxiclean in a bucket or bowl of hot water, and a little elbow grease and that should help with the permanent marker. Eliza has done some doodling with permanent markers and that is what has worked for us. Oh and I recommend putting all markers either in a safe secure place for a few years, or in the trash! lol!
